Hezbollah vowed on Tuesday retaliation against Israel for the assassination in Beirut of Hamas deputy leader Saleh al-Arouri.

In a message released by the group, Hezbollah asserted that the "crime will never go unanswered and unpunished." In addition, they vowed that the "resistance is steadfast, loyal to its principles and commitments, with its hand on the trigger, and its fighters are at the highest levels of readiness."

Moreover, the statement added that "the assassination" of al-Arouri "and his fellow martyrs" in Beirut constitutes "a serious aggression against Lebanon." The remarks come minutes after the Israeli government, without officially acknowledging responsibility for the attack, said that the target of the attack was neither Lebanon nor Hezbollah.
