Hook: Iran should start behaving like normal nation

US Special Representative for Iran Brian Hook told the media representatives on Friday that Washington "succeeded in making the Iranian regime and whoever helps it pay a heavy price," adding that Iranian President Hassan Rouhani himself admitted that Tehran is incurring "huge financial losses caused by sanctions."

Responding to Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei's earlier remarks about Iran "slapping the face of an arrogant power," the official stressed Tehran should "stop its support for terrorism" and start "behaving like a normal nation" unless it wants its isolation to "deepen."

Tensions between the two nations have seeped out in recent days as the European Union triggered a dispute resolution mechanism in an effort to save the Iran nuclear deal after the US administration threatened to slap the bloc with auto tariffs unless it acted.
