Senior Republican representatives requested that the Biden administration provides updates on the government's negotiations with TikTok related to data-collecting security concerns.

The Wall Street Journal cited a letter sent by GOP representatives Michael McCaul and Mike Rogers in a report published on Tuesday, in which the legislators raised questions about the data-sharing practices of TikTok parent ByteDance based in China.

After multiple unsuccessful attempts by the Trump administration to make TikTok operations in the United States get sold to a domestic company, the Senate passed a bill banning the social media platform on government devices last week. The House is also expected to pass it as part of the wider spending bill.
