United States House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler (pictured) condemned former White House counsel Don McGahn's refusal to testify before the panel. "First thing we are going to do is to hold McGahn in contempt," Nadler told reporters.
The lawmaker said the committee will then have to pass a resolution enforcing the contempt citations against McGahn and Attorney General William Barr and seek to enforce the issued subpoenas in court. The committee already voted to hold Barr in contempt for refusing to release the unredacted Mueller report to Congress.
"You are dealing with a lawless president who is willing to go to any lengths to prevent testimony that might implicate him - that does implicate him," Nadler said of US President Donald Trump, who instructed McGahn not to appear for his House hearing.
