United States House Speaker Nancy Pelosi stated in a letter to her Democratic colleagues that the House of Representatives will be passing the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 on Friday, August 12, which will then be forwarded to US President Joe Biden for signing.
"This week, our focus must remain on passing the IRA, as conversations continue on finding consensus for a robust public safety package," Pelosi noted.
She labeled the legislation "life-changing," adding that it will "empower the HHS Secretary to negotiate the costs of prescription drugs," lower further health care and energy expenses, as well as reduce the deficit "while being fully paid for, which will help fight inflation."
