The voting related to the Republican proposal on the debt limit might happen today in the United States House of Representatives, Punchbowl News reported on Wednesday citing sources who attended a private GOP meeting.

According to the sources, US House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, who made some last-minute changes to the proposal, said that he wants the vote to be held today, expressing confidence that enough Republicans will be in favor of the bill. House Majority Leader Steve Scalise stated at a press conference that the legislation "will be passed this week."

However, even if the debt ceiling bill gets the green light in the House, it is debatable whether it will be able to pass a Senate vote. On top of that, United States President Joe Biden underlined that he would be vetoing the legislation, should it be sent for him to sign.
