Hungarian Foreign and Trade Minister Peter Szijjarto told RIA Novosti on Friday that his country is ready to stand by and defend its extended ban on importing Ukraine's grain in case Kiev decides to challenge that move in court.

Szijjarto stressed that Hungary previously agreed to help Ukraine export its grain by providing transit to Africa and sticks to that deal. He insisted that the agreement did not include parts about Budapest transporting the commodity to Central Europe. "We must protect our national interests," Szijjarto stressed.

Meanwhile, Ukraine started the proceedings against Hungary, Poland, and Slovakia with the World Trade Organization (WTO).
