The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated that it shot and arrested eight "infiltrators" attempting to cross from Jordan into the area of the Jordan Valley currently occupied by Israel, Al Jazeera reported.
“Prior to the arrest, the suspects approached the forces in a manner that posed a threat to them. The forces responded by firing at the suspects, and injuries were identified,” the IDF said in a statement.
Six of the suspects were arrested, while the remaining two died of their wounds, the Kan public broadcaster reported. An initial IDF assessment states that the people appeared to be migrants looking for work. No IDF soldiers were injured in the incident.
