Johnson thinks GOP has votes on budget

EPA-EFE/WILL OLIVER

United States House Speaker Mike Johnson said on Thursday that he thinks Republicans have enough votes to pass a budget resolution today. The vote is expected around 10:20 am ET (4:20 pm CET).

Johnson was forced to delay yesterday's vote as it did not attract enough support from lawmakers in the House, in which the GOP holds a seven-seat majority. The bill predicts a substantial rise in government spending, widening the budget deficit by as much as $6.9 trillion over the next ten years, including massive tax cuts, increased funding for the military, border control, and social security. Johnson also supported a $1.5 trillion government spending cut within a decade.
