Iran delays reopening its embassy in Damascus

Iran's Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday that the government is waiting for the necessary conditions to reopen its embassy in Damascus.

"The reopening of the embassy in Damascus requires preparations, the most important of which is ensuring the security and safety of the embassy and its staff," the Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei told the press.

The venue was ransacked after diplomats fled due to the rapid advance of rebels opposed to the Assad government.
