Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei strongly criticized Washington for imposing sanctions on the International Criminal Court (ICC) in response to its investigation into alleged Israeli crimes. Using X, Baghaei described the move as a "new low" in US foreign policy.

He condemned the United States' longstanding reliance on sanctions and coercive measures, labeling it an "addiction," which he said now targets international institutions. "Sanctioning the ICC for investigating Israel's heinous crimes marks a new low in the annals of US complicity and collusion with an occupying apartheid regime that has committed all sorts of atrocities in pursuit of its 'colonial erasure' of Palestine," Baghaei stated.

The Iranian official warned that the move seeks to grant Israel “full impunity” for acts that undermine international peace and security. Baghaei urged the global community to react decisively against what he called an "egregious abuse of power."
