Israel is supposedly expecting Iran to launch a direct assault on the southern or northern part of the country in the next 24 to 48 hours, The Wall Street Journal reported on Friday, citing a source familiar with the matter.
Another person briefed by the Iranian leadership told the news agency that the country made no final decision regarding the matter, even though plans to attack are being discussed.
Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian stressed the "necessity" of Iran's "legitimate defense with the objective of punishing the aggressor," on Friday seeing as how the United Nations Security Council did not condemn the attack on the country's consulate in Damascus.
