Israel announces death of Hamas economy minister

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced on Monday the death of another prominent leader of the Hamas movement during an offensive airstrike in the Gaza Strip on Sunday, following the decease of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh.

Abed Al-Zeriei who was allegedly in charge of the Manufacturing Department of Hamas' Military Wing, as well as Hamas' Economy Minister in the Gaza Strip, died as a consequence of aerial strikes.

"Al-Zeriei had a significant role in directing Hamas' efforts to seize control of humanitarian aid entering the Gaza Strip and in managing Hamas-controlled markets. Furthermore, he was responsible for the distribution of fuel, gas, and funds for terrorist purposes," the IDF noted.
