Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office said that Israel "shares the aims" of the Lebanon ceasefire proposal put forward by the United States earlier, underlining that it would allow people to return to their homes in the northern region.
"Israel appreciates the US efforts in this regard because the US role is indispensable in advancing stability and security in the region," the prime minister's office said. The office revealed that both US and Israeli teams met to discuss the initiative on Thursday.
Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations (UN) Danny Danon previously underlined that Israel does not seek a full-scale war with Lebanon.
