Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and Shin Bet issued a joint statement on Friday that they killed the head of Hamas military intelligence, Osama Tabash, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip yesterday.

According to the statement, Tabash was also the head of the Hamas Observations and Targets Department and a "significant source of knowledge and held a variety of senior positions in the organization, including a company commander in the Khan Yunis Brigade." IDF and Shin Bet also claimed that Tabash was involved in a suicide attack in 2005 in Gaza, where the Shin Bet coordinator, Oded Sharon, was killed.

"In his last role, Tabash was responsible for formulating Hamas's combat strategy on the ground, coordinating the Hamas terrorist organization's intelligence in the southern Gaza Strip and managing their activities in the region," the statement noted.
