Multiple videos on X, formerly Twitter, posted by locals, show Israeli fighter jets flying over Beirut and breaking the sound barrier on Wednesday.

The footage shows Israeli jets passing over the city and breaking the sound barrier, thus creating a loud noise that was carried across the city in an apparent mock raid, causing panic among citizens, as can be heard in the videos posted on social media.

The move comes shortly after Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir called for war against Hezbollah and total destruction of the Iran-backed group.
