Inflation in Italy stood at 8.9% in September on an annual basis, according to a report by the Istituto Nazionale di Statistica on Monday. The year-on-year index is unchanged from August. The biggest contributors to the rise were processed food at 11.4% and unprocessed food at 11%. The prices of regulated and unregulated energy products recorded a slight fall to 47.7% and 41.2% respectively.
On a monthly basis, the Consumer Price Index increased by 0.3%, in line with expectations. Meanwhile, the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) was at 9.4% annually and 1.6% monthly, falling slightly compared to August.
