JPMorgan Chase & Co.'s senior officials held meetings with Jeffrey Epstein even after closing his accounts at the bank in 2013 and after he became a convicted sex offender in 2008, The Wall Street Journal reported on Friday citing unnamed sources familiar with the matter.
Among the bank's executives who had contact with Epstein from 2011 to 2017 were Mary Erdoes, the CEO of JP Morgan Asset & Wealth Management, John Duffy, who led JPMorgan's private bank for the "ultrarich" in the United States, Justin Nelson, one of Epstein's bankers at JPMorgan, and Paul Barrett, a managing director at the bank, according to the report.
Epstein, the bank's client since 1998, was later accused in 2019 of sex trafficking minors and committed suicide soon thereafter. The bank and its former senior executive Jes Staley are involved in several lawsuits over their extensive links to Epstein.
