Japan's trade deficit on the balance of payments (BOP) basis expanded to ¥1.187 trillion in May, from ¥113.1 billion registered in the month prior, the country's Ministry of Finance revealed in its report on Monday.
According to the report, Japan's total imports in May declined by 10.2% on an annual basis, to stand at ¥8.428 trillion. The country's exports fell 2.8% compared to the same timeframe a year prior, coming in at ¥7.241 trillion.
