Japanese Foreign Affairs Ministry expressed "deep concern" on Monday over Israeli military activity in Gaza's southern city of Rafah, as more than one million people have been displaced from the region and attacks have left a significant number of children, women, and elderly people dead or injured.
In a statement, the ministry called "all parties" to act following international law premises and to "act in good faith based on relevant UN Security Council resolutions, including ensuring humanitarian assistance."
Japan's statements come after 63 people were reported killed during recent Israeli army offensives after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered the evacuation of civilians from Rafah to intensify attacks in the area targeting Hamas, and raising international concerns.
