Japan's industrial production index landed at 96.2 in October, increasing by 3.7% year-on-year, according to a preliminary report by the country's Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry (METI), released on Wednesday.
The figure landed slightly below expectations, showing that the country's production fell by 2.6% when compared to the last month's data. The inventory ratio and the index of shipments contracted by 5.1% and 1.1%, respectively, from September to October, and the index of inventories shrank by 0.8%.
On a yearly basis, the shipments index expanded by 4.8%, as the inventories increased by 4.7% and the inventory ratio by 2.1%.
