Japan's industrial production down 1.6% in September

Japan's industrial output fell 1.6% in September compared to the previous month, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry announced in a preliminary report on Monday.

On an annual basis, industrial production increased 9.8%.

Shipments were down 2.4% month-on-month, but rose 9.5% annually. Inventories rose 3% on a monthly basis and by 6.2% year on year, while the inventory ratio jumped 5.1% from August and increased 5.5% year-on-year.
