Japan's unemployment rate at 2.6% in May

Japan's unemployment rate landed at 2.6% in May on a monthly seasonally adjusted basis, according to a report by the nation's Statistics Bureau, released on Friday.

The figure went slightly below expectations despite increasing by 0.1 percentage point when compared to the jobless rate seen in April, while the ratio of job openings to applicants increased by a 0.1 points to 1.24, marking a sustained availability in jobs per applicant.
