Japan's seasonally adjusted Consumer Confidence Index decreased in January when compared to the figure seen the previous month, down by 2.4 points to land at 36.7, according to a report released on Monday by the country's Cabinet Office.
The overall livelihood index decreased by 1.8 points from the previous month to reach 36.8, while the employment index marked a 4.8-point contraction, ending at 36.7. The income growth indicator increased by 1.0 points in the meantime to stand at 38.9, with the willingness to buy durable goods shrinking by 2.2 to land at 34.3.
The percentage of survey respondents who revealed they expect the prices to rise in the upcoming year increased by 1.2% in January, while 2.7% of survey respondents saw the prices going down, the same as the previous month, while 1.5% fewer survey respondents claimed they see the prices remaining at the same level.
