Jeffries urges Trump to fire Hegseth over security leak

US House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries called for the immediate dismissal of Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth on Tuesday, accusing him of leaking sensitive military information in an unclassified setting.

In a letter addressed to President Donald Trump, Jeffries said Hegseth's actions endangered national security and violated federal law because he disclosed the timing of a military operation, strike targets, and weapons details in a national security group chat that included a reporter.

The letter comes a day after it was learned that Trump officials texted attack plans to a group chat in a secure app that included a journalist from The Atlantic.
