British Prime Minister Boris Johnson remarked on Monday that Russian President Vladimir Putin "must fail" in his country's military interventions in Ukraine.
"We have further isolated Russia from the international financial system this morning. Working with our partners, and the G7 [Group of Seven], we are determined to impose the most severe economic measures possible against President Putin for his abhorrent campaign against Ukraine," Johnson tweeted.
Earlier in the day, the United Kingdom imposed sanctions on several of the Eurasian country's major financial institutions, including the Central Bank of Russia. Previously, Johnson stated Putin's intention was never to solve the tensions with Ukraine diplomatically.
