Jordan's Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi rejected on Sunday a proposal made by United States President Donald Trump suggesting Jordan could take more Palestinian refugees to "clean out that whole thing," presumably referring to Gaza. "Our rejection of the displacement of Palestinians is firm and will not change. Jordan is for Jordanians and Palestine is for Palestinians," Safadi said.

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas condemned the plan and "strongly rejected" it. He insisted that Palestinians "will not abandon their land and holy sites."
