New York Judge Arthur Engoron on Monday approved the $175 million bond that former United States President Donald Trump posted in his civil fraud case to appeal the previous $364 million judgment.
To approve the bond, the judge requested that Knight Specialty Insurance Company, which issued a bond, maintain sole control of the $175 million account and that the company and Trump post a monthly financial statement to prove that they have enough funds to cover the bond. The judge also ordered the company to appoint a court-appointed agent in New York and barred the firm's agreement with Trump from being modified without court approval.
Previously, the New York Attorney General’s office said that the former president's bond should be nullified.
