Ukraine stated that Russia's claims that it has complete control over Maryinka are "incorrect," BFMTV reported, citing a Ukrainian spokesman for the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).
Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu stated earlier in a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin that the city, located in the Donetsk People's Republic, was "completely liberated." However, a spokesman for the AFU stressed that this claim made by Shoygu was incorrect. "Battles for Maryinka continue ... It is incorrect to talk about the complete capture of Maryinka."
Ukrainian forces remained within the administrative borders of Maryinka, but the city itself was "completely destroyed," Oleksandr Shtupun, the spokesman for the AFU added.
