Kiev seeks expedited arms delivery at Ramstein meeting

Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov revealed on Wednesday that accelerating arms deliveries will be on the agenda of the Ramstein meeting.

Ukraine Defense Contact Group's (UDCG) gathering will be chaired by United Kingdom Defense Secretary John Healey today. Moreover, United States Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth will take part in the discussion for the first time since assuming the role and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent will visit Kiev soon.

"This is a crucial step in strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities and coordinating further actions with allies," Umerov concluded. The meeting precedes the Munich Security Conference which will start later in the week.

Hegseth: 'Freedom of navigation' to be restored
The United States will not back down in response to Houthi attacks on its forces, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said. In a post on X, he stated that such assaults on American ships, aircraft and troops "will not be tolerated" and promised that "freedom of navigation will be restored." His remarks followed President Donald Trump's confirmation that he ordered "powerful" and "decisive" airstrikes against Houthis in Yemen.
