North Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un called for "intensifying the practical actual-war drills" which would ensure victory in any possible confrontation, KCNA reported.
Kim made the remark during his inspection of a military training base in North Korea's western region on Wednesday. He stated that the country's military must achieve "perfect war preparedness" in order to repel any enemy threat with "overwhelming force."
His visit to the military base came two days after the United States and South Korea began their annual military exercise, dubbed Freedom Shield, which aims to enhance their deterrence against North Korean threats.
