Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida remarked on Monday that his country will cooperate "closely" with the United States and South Korea to come up with a response to North Korea's alleged satellite and potential ballistic missile launch.
Speaking to reporters, Kishida warned that North Korea's launch of a ballistic missile would breach the United Nations (UN) Security Council's (UNSC) resolutions. He went on to describe the potential incident as a grave issue for Japan's safety and urged the public to be prepared for unexpected situations.
Earlier in the day, North Korea announced it could launch a satellite between May 31 and June 11. However, Japan expressed its concerns that that version is just a cover-up for a ballistic missile launch.
