Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko urged on Tuesday the European Union to halt all its business with Russia due to its military interventions in Ukraine as the profit earned from those endeavors is "bloody money."
"Every euro, every cent that you receive from Russia or that you send to Russia has blood; it is bloody money, and the blood of this money is Ukrainian blood, the blood of Ukrainian people," he said in a video call at a mayors' conference in Geneva. "Are you for peace and support Ukraine, or do you support the aggressors, Russia?"
Klitschko also underscored the situation in the capital is improving and noted the slow return of the citizens. His comments came shortly after it was announced European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Josep Borrell will visit Kiev later this week.
