Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov neither confirmed nor denied on Sunday that Russian President Vladimir Putin and his United States counterpart Donald Trump held a conversation over the phone.
Answering a question from Izvestia, Peskov shared that as the administration in Washington continues its work, many different communications are taking place and they are carried out through different channels. "Against the backdrop of the multiplicity of these communications, I personally may not know something [or] may not be aware of something," he commented.
Earlier, in an interview with The New York Post, Trump said that he had a phone call with Russia's head of state, discussing how the war in Ukraine could end. When asked how many times the two already spoke, he simply stated: "I'd better not say."
