Kremlin Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov described on Friday Russian President Vladimir Putin's decision to limit PJSC Gazprom's operations with foreign companies as a response to "the actions of a number of unfriendly countries."
Speaking to reporters at a press conference, Peskov stressed the bill that Putin signed is not a direct reply to the cap the West introduced on the prices of Russian oil. "No, this is a decision that is not related to this European innovation," he said.
Earlier this week, Putin signed a decree in which he forbade PJSC Gazprom from buying gas from joint ventures it has with OMV Aktiengesellschaft and Wintershall Holding GmbH at a price higher than one Moscow determined.
