Kremlin Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov rejected on Friday The Wall Street Journal's report that the Wagner Group could provide Hezbollah with air defense systems as unfounded.
Speaking to reporters at a press conference, Peskov stressed that Moscow already denied the existence of a Wagner unit in Syria, "so all these arguments, as a rule, are not based on anything, have no basis."
In the meantime, allegations surfaced that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad agreed to the Wagner Group sending the SA-22 missile system to Hezbollah as the organization seeks to use it against Israel amid that country's clashes with Hamas. Later, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said it is on "very very high alert" due to Hezbollah's possible activities.
