Kurz announces he is quitting politics

Former Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz announced on Thursday he will be leaving politics amid the ongoing investigation about his involvement in a corruption case.

Kurz confirmed he will be quitting the positions of the People's Party (OVP) Chairman and Parliamentary Leader and nominated Secretary-General Karl Nehammer as his successor.

The case previously forced Kurz to resign from the position of Austria's chancellor.
