Le Maire: Eurozone has defeated inflation

French Economy Minister Bruno Le Maire insisted on Friday that the newest data shows the euro area managed to defeat inflation.

Speaking to reporters ahead of the Economic and Financial Affairs Council's (ECOFIN) informal meeting in Ghent, Le Maire stressed that the euro area should now focus on a new goal of getting its economy to expand again.

Recently, Le Maire predicted that France's annual inflation rate will drop below 3% in the first half of 2024. Meanwhile, in January, the country reported a figure of 3.1%.
