France's National Assembly Member Marine Le Pen criticized the "massive withdrawal operation" organized by other political camps to prevent her party, the National Rally (RN), from having an absolute majority in the French parliament, during an interview with BFMTV on Thursday.
"It's Emmanuel Macron's great dream, the single party," Le Pen said while adding that the RN "still has the capacity to have an absolute majority" in the National Assembly. Since no party won a majority on June 30's first round, the runoff will occur on July 7.
Over 200 opponents of the RN withdrew on Tuesday as candidates from three-way contests ahead of next Sunday's second round of voting as they seek a so-called "republican front" against the far-right. According to Harris Interactive's initial seat projection for the final vote, the RN is expected to attain between 190 and 220 out of 577 seats, falling short of the required 289 for a majority.
