Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati called for "pressure on Israel" to agree a ceasefire with Hezbollah.
Mikati supported calls efforts from France and the United States to reach a ceasefire and praised French President Emmanuel Macron for his decision to host an international conference to boost humanitarian aid to Lebanon, stressing that the move showed Macron's "dedication to the noble values of justice and peace."
Earlier, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu slammed Macron for calling for a halt to weapons deliveries to Israel. The French president's office later insisted Israel is his country's "steadfast friend" and criticized Netanyuahu's "excessive" remarks.
