Chinese Vice Premier Liu He emphasized on Tuesday that the country has passed the peak of coronavirus infections.

The shift in the government's COVID policy is a signal of reopening, Liu pointed out at the World Economic Forum annual meeting 2023 in Davos, Switzerland. He noted that the COVID situation is steadying and that life and production in China have been restored to normal.

To illustrate the last point, Liu revealed that the government expects five billion trips during the upcoming Spring Festival.
