French President Emmanuel Macron stated on Monday that the current geopolitical situation is unstable. His remark comes after Iran attacked Israel over the weekend.
"We have condemned, we have intervened, and we will do everything we can to avoid a conflagration and an escalation," Macron told BFMTV channel, adding that the US administration will do "everything to avoid a conflagration" in the Middle East.
At the same time, the French president stated that he intends to "convince Israel that we must not respond by escalating." Instead, Macron is calling for "isolating Iran, increasing sanctions, and finding a new path to peace in the region."
