French President Emmanuel Macron remarked on Monday during a joint press conference with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney that the two countries will continue to demand "clear commitments" from Russia.

Both Paris and Ottawa are committed to reaching a "long and lasting peace" in Ukraine, Macron underlined, adding that they want to provide "robust guarantees" that would "enable the security of the whole of Europe, France and Canada."

Carney stated that his country will continue to show its "unwavering support" for Kiev.
