Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro described on Tuesday his in-person attendance at the ongoing BRICS summit as "historic."

Speaking to the press at the airport in Kazan, Maduro labeled BRICS as a chance for the global south to prosper economically, unmarred by sanctions, and an example of global multipolarity. He stressed that Venezuela is willing to offer the organization's members an opportunity to undertake projects and invest in the country's oil sector.

Furthermore, Maduro said he would like to have a meeting with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin and hinted at the possibility of a military-technical cooperation between the two nations.
