Prosecutors in Magdeburg have filed charges of murder and attempted murder against the perpetrator of the deadly car-ramming at a Christmas market.
Senior prosecutor Horst Walter Nopens said the attack killed five people and injured or endangered another 205 individuals. Authorities believe the suspect acted alone, contradicting online rumors of a second perpetrator.
According to Nopens, preliminary findings suggest the suspect entered the market using an ambulance evacuation route. The prosecutor also emphasized that further investigation is still required to confirm the motive.
