Over one-tenth of 5,000 Meta Platforms Inc. workers in the United Kingdom could be laid off, the Financial Times reported on Thursday, citing information supposedly obtained from an internal company document.

Most cuts will be carried out in the company's local Instagram team, with Meta seemingly withdrawing from London, the city that was planned to serve as a hub for the social media network less than a year ago.

Some employees that work in the UK capital will be offered to move to New York, according to the report.
