Microsoft Corporation laid off workers who carried out protests over Israel's use of Microsoft's AI products during the tech giant's 50th anniversary celebration that took place last Friday, CNBC reported on Monday, citing a document and internal messages it obtained.

One software engineer was fired for "willful misconduct and disobedience," according to the media outlet. Meanwhile, another software engineer, who was planning to wilfully resign on April 11, had her contract terminated today as well.

One of the individuals in question, Ibtihal Aboussad, interrupted Microsoft AI CEO Mustafa Suleyman's address during the event, saying "shame on you" and accusing the company of selling "AI weapons to the Israeli military."
