Microsoft says it will fix security gaps

Microsoft's Vice Chairman and President, Brad Smith (pictured) vowed to the US House Homeland Security Committee that the tech giant will address the vulnerabilities in its products used across federal agencies, NBC reported.

This commitment came in response to allegations of significant security lapses that allowed China-associated hackers to breach federal government networks. Despite the criticisms, he defended Microsoft's operations in China.

Lawmakers held the hearing after an April government report criticized Microsoft's "cascade of errors" in security, which allowed state-backed Chinese hackers to access email accounts of government employees and officials. Smith stated that Microsoft acknowledged the report's conclusions and is implementing the recommended measures.
