Minuteman III test launch fails 'due to anomaly'

The United States Air Force revealed early on Thursday that a Space Launch Delta 30's test launch of the Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile failed "due to an anomaly."

"The test launch program helps the command evaluate the Minuteman III and gather data to keep the system effective. The command learns lessons from every test launch. Gathering data from the launch allows AFGSC [Air Force Global Strike Command] to identify and correct any issues with the weapon system to ensure the Minuteman III’s continued reliability and accuracy," the Air Force added.

The statement emphasized that anomalies during test launches can be attributed to either the operational platform or the test equipment and underscored the importance of conducting analysis to determine the cause of these anomalies.
