Mitsubishi, JFE to build data center in Kawasaki

Mitsubishi Corp. is partnering with JFE Holdings Inc. on a project to build a data center in the Japanese city of Kawasaki, the Nikkei reported on Tuesday. The facility will be constructed on the site of JFE's former blast furnace.

The project is expected to cost between ¥100 billion and ¥150 billion ($664 million and $996 million). According to the report, the data center will employ a "large number of servers equipped with high-performance semiconductors" for artificial intelligence needs and other uses. It is expected to be finished in fiscal 2030.
